Sanam Luang. According to many people, including Bangkok's very own farang-oriented Metro-magazine, Sanam Luang seemed to be the main venue for the festivities about new year. Several stages were set up, and various activities scheduled. There was a large digital display with a countdown clock, and center of all this a shrine where many made offerings of goods, candles and incense.

On the different stages, a wide variation of attractions could be enjoyed, from plain disco-hits to northern-style Likee-theatre. A huge crowd drifted from one to another, in the meantime already lighting up the occasional fireworks.
