As annouced to everybody involved, I made a multimedia presentation about the new museum and the opening exhibition at ARKA Gallery. Hooked up my powerbook to an lcd-projector and soundsystem, and put the catalogues I dragged all the way from Belgium on display. Gorodny arranged for simultaneous translation and we were all set. A brief introduction by Vera Glazkova from ARKA, then Gorodny explained that Artetage-FESTU is now building the Modern Art Museum of Vladivostok, then Christine Steel talked about her travels and exhibition projects. Then I fired off my application. showing the Museum building, talking about the outlines of the project, the artists involved and the artworks they will realize here in Vladivostok. To spice up the interest I had prepared a virtual tour through the new museum, photoshopping some artworks into the building as it stands now. I even had director Garodny standing amidst the first show to come. Closed down with a couple of minutes of noisy multimedia by AMVK and then Спасйбо!
After the presentation some more computer design and poster decisions had to be made, but that was due postponed because of incompatible files and computers. So we hit the street and passed by Vladivostok's Piccadily Circus with the local hip crowd hanging out at Fokina. Noticed a poster for a Dj-event with some top dj's from Moscow at the trendy Nautilus next friday. And quite fancy poster for a presumebly heavy metal band. You name it, they've got it here.
So you must be wondering about 'Luda', right? Gorodny spotted the Setting Sun Bright Yellow outfit from across the large intersection at Semyonovskaya Square. After we politely asked her if we could take her picture, it turned out she's a student at FESTU, in computer engineering. And well, I promised the picture would be on this website in a couple of days....
At home after cooking dinner watched some television, first time in Vladivostok. First they had quite an intriguing and long extensive report on a murder case, then a very long speech by President Poetin, and then all of a sudden a flash of a cultural program, Panorama. Grabbed the image right away, and here we are, on Vladivostok tv!
