all sold. You see how a person can take things out of context and assume something which is not true, you just did it yourself. Since being on death row I have no income and the oil painting I do sell offset my living and personal needs besides paying for art supplies and covering the postage of so many letters I answer. Once I came to prison most of my personal property was stolen, and I lost most of what I had. Most of my money went to my attorneys who sold me out. Criminal law is expensive in the USA. My attorneys received $268,600 for their time in my case and my appeal is going to run another Million. My first trial cost 2,2 million dollars of the taxpayers money. Sorry for the errors in typing its not one of my better talents.
I found your letter very interesting in the fact you being an artist I look upon you as an expressionist form of artist. See I never claimed to be an artist what I believe makes my work sell is the style and bold colors I enjoy doing paintings with. and I would be a fool not to believe that some or most of my art work is sold because of my name. People want to be part or drawn to something infamous or be a collector in the hopes I die and the art work go up in value. I paint to pass the time away while waiting for my appeal. I paint a broad range of subjects and areas only because I enjoy it and I like to see if I can do it.
So your telling me your money problems is funny as your free to make money with your art or talent in music. Try doing it from a prison than I would say your having a problem.
I agree with your comments about people liking the morbid things of life. Its interesting that your interested in human behavior, and you certainly have found ways to learn more about it being an expressionist in art you convey your thoughts and ideas to them to get a reaction. In my case its curiousity that draws them to me so they write to me expecting to find the monster they read about, some come away disappointed as they write to me as they learn I am just another human being like them. And that what happen to me could happen to them.
You seem to be searching for something in life by experiments in art form. Of course just to study human behavior is interesting in itself. Its kind of like the psychologist and psychiatrist wanting to put labels on everything a person does. If they can't put you into a group with a long name then they feel they have failed. I don't agree with that, How do you feel on the subject do you think everything can be explained? Human Behavior is nothing that can be expected to conform to any pattern, we just hope they do. Its called learned behavior. You have found a few things out with your little door test how people react and you have learned that people like blood and ore, and thats what the news media cater too. I think you have a great insight to that from your own experiments, but you have to learn that not always what you read is a true image of the person they are talking about. Many people want the gory details some from being just curious others because they want to relate to themselves. Like something they would like to do or be, but are too weak to do it, so by writing to a person like me then they can feel a part os someone who has been made infamous, notice I said made me infamous. as I don't think I am important at all. Its something that has been made of me and no I don't care for it at all as its not me.
Since I used this lighter paper I can go on to a third page with the others things I am sending you it will still not be too much in cost. Your first letter cost me 88c I can't figure out what your paying to American money, so tell me.
