December 5th is the birthday of my wife, and also of WALT DISNEY and filmmaker FRITZ LANG, also the day MOZART died, painter CLAUDE MONET and filmmaker ROBERT ALDRICH died that day too. You probably wonder how I can call up all these dates? One of my continuous works is a BIRTH(+)FACT(x)DEATH(-)CALENDAR, which lists data day by day, I have now over 3000 data listed, and I already have one or more for every day in the year, I focus on the worlds of art, crime, litterature, science, film and extraordinaries, also major disasters are listed. I'm working towards a book of 366 pages, that should appear in 1998, that is 3 times 666, being the number of evil, just a funny date to publish such a work I guess. I only hope I'll find an editor for it ince I'd be never able to pay for the printing myself. Next to all the data will be one photo and one drawing for each day.

I myself am born sept 20th, same day as SOPHIA LOREN. March 17th, 22nd and 24th US-president STEPHEN GROVER CLEVELAND was born, also auto-engineer GOTTFRIED DAIMLER and NAT 'KING' COLE, filmmaker LUCHINO VISCONTI died. Another multiple murder was very excited about dates, HERB MULLIN, he was born on the day EINSTEIN died, and thought that was some kind of visionary thing. I have one sister, 13 years younger, my family is very small, no relatives to my father, my mother 1 brother. My wife though has a very large family, 3 sisters, 1 brother and a dozen of aunts and many nieces and stuff. We don't like family business too much, we're kind of treated as 'weirdos' too, artists, no job, living in this incredible creepy place. I'm just putting in a new gate with another sculptor here, the entrance to the courtyard is supposed to be closed off from the street by a gate,but the one in there now is all rusted, and some guys here who collect military vehicles drove one of their trucks in it so it came out of the wall and is just sitting there, unable to move it, people from the street put trash behind it, or food for stray cats (attracting rats) and some bastards even piss there. So in a few days that'll be done too. In the meantime I'm also making a kind of table to put a printing-press on for someone, it's somewhere between made-to-size object and sculpture, which I lke to do, I also do lots of jobs in the house that look like sculptures too, like curtain-rods out of spare piping and stuff, specially designed shelves. I installed a complete bathroom with toilet, bathtub, hot water, and a kitchen and stuff, in this factory we only have big rooms, which have to be divided in separate spaces, it all tekes timebut at least we do it completely the way we want it.

I guess I'll stop here now, as I still have to write a few short bits for our magazine concerning our programme for the next year, we will start again to organise events an exhibitions, in summer a large show on LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, who's 100 years old next year, how about a painting for that one?
