CM068: 555 - DDV live in Vladivostok
A live-recording from DDV at Premiera Art Club. |

At six I'm off to the 'Premiera' club where i'm to meet Mityai for a rehearsal for our tonight's concert. He turns up with another buddy of his 40° band who does the mixing. We seem to get along aurally very well, and after a couple of run throughs we're ready to hit the crowd. The crowd turns out to be kinda meager, not one of the many art 'friends' I've encountered since my arrival shows up. Surprisingly a head of culture from the Primorsky Region does show up, as well as a few die-hard music fanatics. As usual, the smaller the crowd, the better the performance kicks off. Mityai merges with the electronics and my violent vocals. A steaming version of 'Rain/Reign', painful whining 'Gun' and a machine-gun 'Nazis of the Night'. A short break with 'Soft Chaos' and then we fire off a pièce de résistance of 'Tool for Extracting Ball Joints'. Flabbergasted applauze upon 'Foolish Little Girl'. A short but powerful set as an introduction to 'noise-electronics-computerpunk'.Later on I meet an electronic music fan, who's also into ethnic music, and who masters Tibetan and Mongolian tone-singing. He challenges me into a duet, and we go for it. For five minutes we put down a stunning 'ThroatClash' with just two voices. |
